Sheffield: Notes and Sounds presents two wildly different trios. 09.08.2019

Notes and Sounds presents two wildly different trios.

The first public gathering of David Birchall, Yoni Silver and Otto Willberg gets spectral with big unfolding arcs and slow moving mountains. Guitar strings provide ropes to pull oneself over the new ground and our breathing is tempered by the slow wobble of a cane reed all being dragged sometimes gently sometimes with some brambly determination. Building amidst the rubble carefully picking what’s worth keeping and bending things to necessity. Also lurking in grey reeds not saying yes or no or even maybe just.

DAVID BIRCHALL guitar
YONI SILVER bass clarinet
OTTO WILLBERG double bass

Individual members of Beck/Collins/Saw have been defining the sound of improvised Sheffield for almost 50 years and need little introduction.
This stripped away instrumentation will be their first trio collaboration since Newcastle NARC Festival 2016.

MICK BECK bassoon & whistles
CHARLIE COLLINS waterphone & percussion
DEREK SAW pocket trumpet & flugelhorn

8:00pm (prompt start)
£5 waged. £3 unwaged.

BYO.
