You don't need permission to do nothing - the difference with 50/50 is that it obliges you to do nothing.

I'm really good at doing nothing, judging by the out put over the weeks.
50 50 makes me conscious of this and then obliges me to do something.
I begin to ponder whether being silent is 'doing nothing' and making a quiet drone while thinking about the supermarket closing time is 'doing something'.
I might say it 'gives me permission (just?) to listen'. I wonder if it 'requires' this? 'Requests' maybe.
