Introduction

South Wales Improvisers established itself in partnership with SHIFT and creates the opportunity for an individual to play free improvised ensemble music on a regular monthly basis.

SW Improvisers welcomes all players of all levels who are interested in exploring new paths to music.

Players can come to the sessions freely and without any prior experience. We ask only that you have an open mind, a willingness to listen, to respond and to enjoy.

Getting to CARNEDD, Ty Wilcox, Dunleavy Drive, Cardiff, CF11 0BA

Bus: Cardiff Bus number 9 stops right by the building (Dunleavy Drive stop) and the route goes through town and up City Road.The timetable and route map can be found here: https://www.cardiffbus.com/services/CB/9 The last bus leaving Dunleavy Drive is 22.53 Monday to Friday, 22.48 on Saturday and 21.03 on Sunday (correct as at 3 April 2024, check the Cardiff Bus website for the most up-to-date times).

Train: Cogan train station is a 15 minute walk away. The walk involves crossing a busy road and Pont y Werin footbridge, and is along well-lit and paved streets. Trains to & from Llandaff, Cathays, Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street run fairly regularly and the last train is 23.04 Monday to Friday, and 23.15 Saturday to Sunday (correct as at 3 April 2024, check the TfW website for up-to-date timetables: https://tickets.trc.cymru)

Walking: You can walk in around 15 minutes from the Grangetown area via Penarth Road and the Ely Trail, or Clive Street and Grangemoor Park. If going via the Ely Trail or Grangemoor Park, be aware that these routes are unlit at night. There is a slightly longer walking route along lit roads (A4055 then Ferry Road, then follow Seager Drive to Clive Street).

Cycling: Cycling routes are the same as walking. There are bike locking facilities at the venue.

Car: On-site car parking is available for visitors.
